ABOUT THE BAND

BIO

Malcura are an exhilarating Flamenco-Fusion band from Melbourne, Australia. Honing their craft as buskers in Melbourne's Bourke Street Mall, Malcura have captivated the public with their distinctive sound, which combines the sonic textures of the Spanish guitar with Latin rhythms and a Rock'n'Roll mentality.

Consisting of Josh Voce and Jenna Campbell on Nylon-string Guitars, and backed by the powerhouse rhythm section of Simon Wood on Drums and Percussion and Colin Andrews on Bass, Malcura creates music for the soul; it's a feeling as much as it is a sound.

Renowned for their head-turning musicianship, audience participation and keeping dancefloors moving at festivals across Australia, Malcura are a workhorse of a live band. Whether they're on-stage at a festival, starting dancefloors at the pub, tucked in-between two trailers at a market or serenading guests at a wedding, Malcura have a tenacious stage presence and continue to delight audiences (or so they tell us).

The band have released two full-length studio albums and two EPs, along with a host of singles, which build upon their signature "Heavy Flamenco" style by incorporating intricate arrangements and influences from a range of styles, from Gypsy Jazz, to Swing, to Surf Rock and even Metal!

Malcura are currently working on their third full-length album and are a live act not to be missed when they are next in your town!

STUDIO RECORDINGS

2022's "Flamenco Metal" pays respect to the band's origin story whilst setting its sights firmly on the future. To mark the addition of Colin Andrews to the band's line-up (on bass guitar), Malcura chose to re-record the first songs ever written by the band, this time with new instrumentation and polished production.

Malcura's 2nd album "Malcura II" included a distinctive cover of the “Gerudo Valley Theme” from Zelda. The track has recently passed 1 million streams on Spotify, with a street performance of the tune going viral on YouTube, amassing over 11 million views.

Featuring explorations of Gypsy Jazz, Swing, Surf Rock and Melodic Death Metal, Malcura build upon their signature “Heavy Flamenco” style, weaving through intricate arrangements with virtuoso musicianship and gusto.

Malcura II is an epic space odyssey. Each song is a chapter in the adventure. The CD and vinyl booklets include custom artwork for all 12 tracks, depicting the hero, 'Captain Snus' in his quest across a harsh galaxy.

LIVE AND ALIVE

Since 2023, the band has been joined on-stage and in the studio by emerging talent, Jenna Campbell. Performing as a four piece in 2024, Malcura has continued to perform for thrilled audiences all over Australia, returning to old haunts and making new friends along the way. Malcura are actively seeking opportunities to play their music for new audiences, going on their first European tour in 2025.

EUROPEAN TOUR

MASSIVE SUCCESS!

In June 2025 Malcura embarked on their first international tour, playing world-renowned festivals like Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts (UK) and Montreux Jazz Festival, as well as Folk in a Field (UK), Buskers Chur (CHF), and Buskers Braunschweig (DE).

The band were thrilled with the opportunity to share their music with new audiences. They loved every minute of the tour and cannot wait to go again.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body. Creative Australia provided critical financial support and enabled Malcura's art to be shared with the world.

Malcura could not have made it to Europe and back without the incredible support of all festival managers, venue staff, artist bookers, and musicians that they worked with along the way.

Not to mention their amazing friends, family members, friends-of-friends, and cousins-of-friends who all let them sleep on couches and offered to carry their equipment up flights of stairs!
